There’s no need to miss out on delicious Nepali food once you return home if you learn to cook it yourself! During a cooking class in Panauti community homestay, your local host and teacher will guide you through every step of preparing a typical Nepali meal. Start by visiting the market and selecting ingredients for your meal. What you buy will depend on what’s in season at the time, so the menu will always be a little different. Return to your hostess’s home, where you’ll prepare the food from scratch, learning how to cut, cook, and season the food properly. Common dishes include rice, roti, various vegetable curries (including lentils, potato, and spinach), as well as a freshly-made pickle. You can alter to spice level to suit your tastes. After you’ve finished creating the food, you’ll sit down to enjoy eating it together. Take notes and photos as you go, if you wish, so you can replicate your meal again later. This is a souvenir that just keeps on giving!
