Following The Snow-Leopard Trail - Go in search of the elusive snow leopard

Wildlife enthusiasts won’t want to miss the chance to go hiking in search of the rare, elusive snow leopard. Along with a local expert guide, follow the big cat’s trails

Lower Mustang is home to some of Nepal’s estimated 300-500 Himalayan snow leopards, a rare and very well-camouflaged big cat that lives in the mountains. Accompanied by a local guide, who will share their wealth of knowledge about the animals with you, you’ll follow along trails known to be used by the snow leopards, keeping your eyes and ears open for the animals. You’ll be hiking for about 5-6 hours, and along the way can enjoy beautiful views of the barren Mustang landscape, with the enormous, snow-capped peaks of Mt. Nilgiri (7061 meters) and Mt. Tilicho (7134 metres) beyond. Whether or not you’re successful in seeing the difficult-to-spot cats, you’ll see a range of other wildlife and birds, and can enjoy a day of physical activity surrounded by some of the world’s highest mountains.
