Eastern Nepal Road Trip

Starting in Panauti you are introduced to the Community Homestays. You visit Namobuddha and hike to Patlekhet, a farming village noted for its milk and honey. It is a scenic drive to Janakpur where you encounter a psychedelic culture shock of color. You feel like you are in India. This is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindus where as well as the temples and ponds, you see the majestic Janaki Temple and visit the women at the Mitila Womens’ Development Centre who recreate their traditional art that the region is famous for.

Shaking off the dust and noise of the city, you are whisked back up into the hills to Dhankuta where you are welcomed by a Magar farming community. You arrive in time to admire the sun setting over Dharan and the plains below, with Makalu (5th highest mountain in the world) on the horizon. 

Continuing east you venture to tea gardens and admire views of Kanchenchunga (3rd highest mountain in the world). You visit a tea factory to learn about the process bringing your cup of tea to the table.
