Overview:
Kathmandu Valley, in the ancient times was a melting pot of people from different parts of the Himalayan landscape and the Indian subcontinent. When they came to Kathmandu, they brought their art, sculpture and heritage with them. Kathmandu Valley has been an exemplary display of art manifested into myth, monuments and materials. The art has been kept alive through generations of artisan families and they have opened their homes, hearts and workplaces for numerous guests to be immersed in the art of the Valley.
Explore three historic cities and traditional artforms with skilled artisans who have dedicated their lives to their craft. Travel across Patan, Kirtipur and Bhaktapur on a 1 night 2 day journey to experience three distinct artforms; Paubha Painting, Ranjana Lipi and Wood Carving respectively.
The first day takes you to Patan to experience Paubha Painting which is a harmonious blend of Hindu and Buddhist philosophies. Paubha colorfully showcases mythological symbolisms and every stroke of paint has significance. After the first art workshop, you will be transferred to Kirtipur, another historic town at the western outskirts of the valley to experience Ranjana Lipi, a traditional Nepali calligraphy font which dates back to the 11th century. Ranjana Lipi is still widely used by the Newars of the valley and the experience incorporates Newari Cuisine and Aila, a smooth Newari rice wine which will add flavor and spice to your experience. Travel on to Bhaktapur the next day for an excursion of the beautiful Bhaktapur Durbar Square followed by tracing the lines of imagination during a traditional wood carving session with a local expert.
