Exploring Hemjakot

The homestays in Hemjakot reflect the traditional style of this part of the Himalayas: they are made of natural stones that come from the region. They are an attractive design and provide an opportunity for guests to appreciate a domestic style of architecture that has largely been overshadowed in Nepal’s big cities. 

The package includes a short trek from Hemjakot to Dhampus takes about an hour, ascending from Hemjakot’s 1500 metre altitude to Dhampus’ 1710 metres. Along the way, you’ll experience breathtaking mountain views and the local rural culture, and pass through a small community forest. This hike is best done after lunch at your homestay in Hemjakot, or bring a packed lunch with you to enjoy en route. Dhampus is a small Gurung village and has a viewpoint from which you can admire the beautiful views of the Annapurna Himalaya, which are different from those available from Hemjakot. This gentle hike is a great warm-up to longer treks in the area, if you have the time and stamina for them, or works well as a standalone excursion for travellers with less time.
